A Festive Night to Remember at LaVie: Lights, Food, and the Spirit of the Season

Let me tell you something about LaVie Resort & Casino—they don’t do things halfway. When they decide to kick off the holiday season, they go all in. Case in point: the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony last December 3, at the Edge Sports Bar at the New Coast Hotel in Malate. I went expecting another cookie-cutter holiday event. What I got was an evening that smacked me square in the face with classy decadence, charm, and a touch of soul.

Guests were treated to a marvelous experience filled with festive decor and live performances of DJ Justiz and Hype Man JBarz.

First, there was the tree. Massive. Glorious. A monument to holiday excess in all the best ways. Golden accents, glittering ornaments, and lights that made the entire venue glow like something out of a fever dream. It wasn’t just a tree—it was a beacon, radiating warmth and the faint, distant hope that maybe the season still means something.

The food you ask? Let’s talk about the food. Hors d'oeuvres that didn’t just sit on a tray waiting to die—they were alive and undeniably delicious. Fusion dishes that punched through the ordinary, delivering bold, unexpected flavors that danced across your palate. Whoever was in charge of the kitchen knew exactly what they were doing, and I found myself savoring every bite as if it were my last.

And then there was the choir. These weren’t just folks singing because they drew the short straw at work. No, these voices were big, soulful, and alive. They hit you right in the chest with renditions of Christmas classics that felt like a warm embrace—and, occasionally, a punch to the gut when nostalgia sneaked in.

What tied it all together was the people. The staff at LaVie were the unsung heroes of the night. They were everywhere and nowhere, like ghosts with perfect timing. A used napkin disappeared before you even noticed it was there. Someone always seemed to be asking if I needed anything before I could even form the thought. It wasn’t just service—it was pampering at its finest.

LaVie doesn’t just know how to throw a party; they know how to make you feel like you’re part of something bigger, something meaningful. This wasn’t just about the tree or the food or the music. It was about a moment—a fleeting, intoxicating moment where the world slows down, the lights glow a little brighter, and you feel, just for a second, that maybe everything is going to be okay.
